Oh, I love this movie. It’s exactly what I needed — the kind of humor that hits my sweet spot perfectly. Sometimes I honestly feel like my soul was born in Japan.
What makes this movie so great?
As one of the characters says, this story is about Gen Z assassins who, in between killing people, are just trying to enjoy life and make the most of what they have. It’s a chaotic mix of absurdity, charm, and youthful rebellion — a strange yet delightful reminder that even trained killers crave connection, laughter, and maybe a bit of normality.
Between the over-the-top fights, gunfights, and rivers of blood, there’s an unexpectedly warm story of friendship between two girls — one outgoing, one introverted. As the film unfolds, we meet even more quirky personalities, each adding another layer of humor and chaos. One of them even changes for the better, touched (ironically) by the influence of these “baby assassins.”
And somehow, against all odds, it all ends on a funny, bright, and strangely hopeful note.
A quick summary
Sugimoto Chisato and Fukagawa Mahiro are partners in crime — quite literally. When they’re sent on a mission to Miyazaki Prefecture, they complete it with ease and start planning their summer break. Chisato then realizes it’s Mahiro’s birthday, but before she can even think about a gift, a new assignment arrives.
Their next target is hidden inside the Miyazaki Prefectural Office. It looks like an easy job… until a mysterious man with a gun appears. His name is Fuyumura Kaede — a lone wolf assassin and the most dangerous enemy they’ve ever faced.
Who is it for?
For anyone who loves Japan, wants to laugh, and doesn’t mind a bit (okay, a lot) of blood. It’s for those who want to hear the rhythm of Japanese language, see real Japanese streets, and dive into a movie that’s both ridiculous and surprisingly heartwarming. But if you’re squeamish — maybe skip dinner before watching.

I can’t wait to see more from this series. Baby Assassins: Nice Days is a perfect cocktail of action, comedy, and crime — pure chaotic joy with a big heart underneath all the gunfire.
