Kariera polityczna- Political Career
⭐ 10/10
Players: 2–4
Playtime: 60–90 min
Difficulty: Light (lots of randomness, simple rules)
Game type: Board game / Party / Satire
Dreaming of a political career?
Political Career gives you an ironic and hilarious peek behind the scenes of public life in Poland. Instead of ordinary pawns, you move across the board climbing the rungs of power — from a low-level party member all the way to the European Parliament. Make it to the top and you’ll enjoy a true triumph; fail, and you’ll tumble down the corridors of parliament with a bang. Along the way absurdities await: a bribe here, the need to please voters there, or even the infamous “mileage allowance.” It won’t always be easy, but it will definitely be funny.
The satirical illustrations by Andrzej Mleczko give the whole game its unique character, and the solid production means it will survive more than one raucous evening. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys sharp political satire mixed with a heavy dose of absurdity.
🎯 Objective
Collect 2 large support tokens and 3 large euro tokens while climbing the political ladder, using intrigue, campaign promises, and the occasional shady deal. But beware: if you don’t have a sense of humor about bribery, rigged votes, or political scandals, this might not be the game for you.
👉 The game is won by the player who first collects 2 large support tokens and 3 large euro tokens.
🛡️ How a turn works
The rules are very simple. The slimmest player starts.
Roll two dice and move your pawn the indicated number of spaces.
Resolve the effect of the space you land on:
TV / Radio / Press / Internet – gain support from other players.
Fickle electorate / Lie detector – roll again, guess, and risk a big win or a painful loss.
Debates and questions – the best part of the game: bid for answers or respond to a question, earning support tokens..
Special twists — like youth branch tokens, whistleblowers, or “extra accessories” — can flip the game upside down and add even more grotesque humor.
Absurdity piles on absurdity, and thanks to Mleczko’s artwork, even losing can be hilarious
🔥 Why I like it
✅ Andrzej Mleczko’s illustrations perfectly capture the absurdity of politics — pure satire.
✅ The mechanics feel a bit like Monopoly, but served with more humor and bite.
✅ The gameplay is fast, chaotic, and full of sudden reversals.
✅ Debates and questions? Impossible not to burst out laughing.
✅ And my favorite part: you can play as a woman, a parliamentarian! Huge plus.
🏆 How to win in Political Career
Luck and intuition matter more than deep strategy — sometimes the dice decide everything.
Keep an eye on other players, since certain spaces and youth branch tokens can cause surprising gains or losses.
Don’t expect serious tactical depth — this is satire first, game second.
☕ Impressions
I laughed until tears rolled down my face — more than once. Political Career is pure parody of public life: grotesque situations, absurd scandals, and Mleczko’s biting drawings. The randomness is huge, and the dice often matter more than planning, but that’s exactly the charm. It’s a cabaret on a board, full of shady deals, wild promises, and sudden twists. More of a party satire than a strategy game — and in that role, it’s brilliant.
And the characters? “Helena” in her red mohair beret and hairy legs cracked me up the most — honestly, it felt like looking at myself. 😅
The funniest moments always come when I play with my friend who actually works in a government office — every time she takes a bribe in the game, we all burst out laughing.
More of a party satire than a strategy game — and in that role, it’s brilliant.
🎯 Rating: 10/10
Few games deliver so much joy, laughter, and political absurdity. This isn’t about rewarding the best strategist — it’s about embracing the satire and enjoying the ride. Big plus: you can play as a woman or a man — a feature I absolutely love!
